Chapter 1: Sciences of Anatomy & Physiology Flashcards
1.
the study of structures visible to the unaided eye
gross anatomy
11 organ systems
integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, digestive, and reproductive.
I SEE MANY NERVOUS ELEPHANTS CLAPPING LOUD RIGHT UNDER DIS ROOM
Provides Protection
Prevents water loss/gain
Synthesis vitamin D
Releases secretions
Regulates body temperature
Houses sensory Receptors
Integumentary
Support/ Protection
Site of hematopoises (blood cell production)
Stores Calcium/ Phosphorous
Provides Site for ligaments and muscles and attatchment
Skeletal
Produces body movement
generates heat when muscles contract.
Muscular
regualatory system
responds to stimuli
controls muscles/glands
conciousness, memory, intellegence
Nervous
feedback mechanisms or loops are initiated by either an increase or a decrease in the stimulus, and the end result is to return the stimulus to within its normal range or set point.
Negative Feedback
Stimulus reinforced to continue moving variable in same direction until a climactic event occurs, then body returns to homeostasis.
Positive Feedback
Positive Feedback
Components of Homeostatic Systems Order
Stimulus
Receptor
