Central venous line
IV inserted into large vein
Gastrostomy
Opening in stomach and abdomen.
Requires surgery.
Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)
Tube placed through skin directly into stomach. No surgery.
Pulse oximeter
Measures blood oxygen level and pulse
Sepsis
Serious illness caused by infection, usually bacterial, requires immediate care.
Telemetry
Cardiac monitoring transmitted to central station for assessment
Normal Blood Oxygen
95-100%
Chest tubes - Position - 2
Fowlers. Keep them there 30 minutes after feeding to prevent aspiration
Put on right side (lateral), so gravity helps flow from stomach to small intestines.
Dialysis - 2
Know where the lines go
Do not take BP in dialysis arm
What is subacute care
More than LTC, less than Acute/Hospital
