What is Systolic Blood Pressure?
Pressure in arteries and other blood vessels when heart is beating/contracting
What is diastolic blood pressure?
Pressure in arteries and blood vessels when heart is at rest/between beats.
Classification for normal BP
Less than 120/80 mmHg
Classification for elevated blood pressure
Systolic between 120&129
Diastolic less than 80 mmHg
Classification for stage 1 hypertension
Systolic between 130 & 139
Diastolic between 80 & 89
Classification for hypertension 2
Systolic of 140 or higher
Diastolic of 90 mmHg or higher
Classification for hypertensive cris
Systolic greater than 180 and/or diastolic greater than 120 mmHg
