cervical facet syndrome/dysfunction
ss- insidious onset of pain, referral pattern to shoulder
px- tender to palp, increased pain with extension and rot, neuro WNL
cervical sprain/strain
ss- trauma/overuse, muscle pain or soreness, whipae
px- tender to palp, arom limited, pain w muscle testing
C spine questions
High risk- Age>65, dangerous, numbness
Low risk- simple MVA, sitting pos in ED, ambulatory, delayed onset of pain, absence of midline pain
ROM- rotate 45 deg
disc radiculopathy
ss- numbness/tingling/weakness/shooting down arm
px- spurlings/jacksons/valsalva/cervical compression, neuro changes, decreased DTRs
POM- conserv
CSM- ss, px, pom
ss- slow and progressive neuro conditions that occurs when spinal cord becomes compressed
px- Atrophy of hand mm, absent c5/6 reflex but hyper c7, ankle clonus, babinski, hoffmans,
POM- MRI, conserve
Erbs palsy
superior part of cord usually c5/6
px- paralysis of delt/biceps/bracialis/brachioradialis
-present w shoulder med rotated, and elbow ext
Kulpkes palsy
inf part of cord C8,T1
paralysis of intrinsic hand muscles (claw hand) and ulnar nerve distribution numbness
VBI
ss- loss of vision, double vision, dizziness/vertigo, numbness, nausea, slurred speach, loss of balance coordination, difficult swallowing
px- CN screen abnormalities
POM- ER
arom C/s (flex, ext, lat, rot, tmj)
flex- 60
ext- 60
lat- 45
rot- 80
tmj- 35-50mm
