Cells and cell structure Flashcards
Function of nucleus
Nuclues contains genetic materials that controls the activities of the cells.
Function of cytoplasm
Where most of the chemical reactions take place. It contains enzymes that control chemical reactions.
Function of mitochondria
Where most energy is released in respiration.
Function of ribosomes
Where protein synthesis occurs.
Cell membrane
What holds the cell together.
Controls the passage of substances into and out of the cell.
What are the features that plant cells have but animal cells don’t have?
Cell wall
Permanent vacuole
Chloroplasts
What is cell wall made of?
What is cell wall’s function?
Made of cellulose, which strengthens the cell.
What does the permanent vacuole contain?
Cell sap.
What is the function of chloroplasts?
Where photosynthesis occurs, which makes food for the plant.
They contain a green substance called chlorophyll.
What is yeast and what does a yeast cell consist of?
Yeast is a single-celled microorganism.
Nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cell wall.
What are the differences and similarities between yeast cells and bacterial cells?
S: Both are single-celled microorganism.
Both have cytoplasm, cell membrane and cell wall.
D: Bacterial cell don’t have a nucleus. Genetic materials floats in the cytoplasm.
