Cell Transport - Endo and Exocytosis Flashcards
1
Q
endocytosis
A
- the process of taking material into a cell
- phagocytosis:
- Means “cell eating”
- The cytoplasm will extend around a particle and packages it within food vacuoles.
- Used by single-celled organisms like an ameba.
- pinocytosis
- Process used by cells to take up liquid from the environment.
- Pockets fill along the membrane and then pinch off to form vacuoles.
2
Q
exocytosis
A
- The process of pushing material out of the cell.
