CD antigens Flashcards
Adhesion molecule. Expressed on T cells, thymocytes, and natural killer cells.
CD2
Expressed on T cells and thymocytes. Associated with the T cell antigen receptor (TCR).
CD3
Expressed on helper (Th1 and Th2) T cells (about 60% of peripheral T cells). Co-receptor for MHC II.
CD4
Expressed on a subset of B cells, thymocytes, and T cells.
CD5
Expressed on cytotoxic (killer) (Tc) and suppressor (Ts) T cells. Co-receptor for MHC I.
CD8
Expressed on B cells
CD19, CD20, CD21, CD22
Low affinity receptor for IgE. Expressed on mature B cells, macrophages, eosinophils, and some other cells.
CD23
IL-2 receptor (IL-2R) alpha chain. Expressed on T cells, B cells, and monocytes.
CD25
Receptor for co-stimulatory signal, binds B7.1 and B7.2. Expressed on B cells and subsets of T cells.
CD28
Receptor for co-stimulatory signal, binds CD40 ligand (CD40-L). Expressed on B cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells.
CD40
Ligand for CD40. Expressed on activated CD4 T cells.
CD40-L
Mediates adhesion of leukocytes.
CD44
Has multiple isoforms resulting from alternative splicing (CD45RO, CD45RA, CD45RB). Another popular name for this phosphotyrosine phosphatase enzyme is leukocyte common antigen (LCA). Amplifies the signaling through antigen receptor of B and T cells.
CD45
Fas. Induces apoptosis.
