how does obesity cause cardiovascular disease?
A
obesity can lead to fatty material building ups in the arteries (blood vessels that transport blood to the organs) and if your arteries get damaged or clogged it can lead to a heart attack

how does smoking cause cardiovascular disease?
A
- smoking increases formation of plaque in the blood vessels. cardiovascular disease is when arteries that carry blood to the heart are narrowed by plaque or blocked by clots
- chemicals in the cigarettes cause blood to thicken and create clots in the veins and arteries

how does diet and exercise affect obesity
A
if too much energy, fats and sugars, are consumed and not burned off through exercise and physical activity much of the surplus energy will be stored by the body as fat

what are some ways of treating cardiovascular disease?
A
- medication - statins (drugs) for reducing cholesterol in the blood
- surgical procedures - (stents) arteries can be stretched with stents and maintain blood flow
- heart transplant - incase of heart failure
