2
Q

diastolic heart failure

A

Low stroke volume due to low total volume, niormal ejcetion fraction but there is abnormal filling of the ventricle so not enough to pump out

Q

systolic heart failure

A

Stroke volume ejection fraction is small, normal total volume- stoke volume is small

Q

heart failure: ischemic heart disease

A

systolic
casues damage to the myocardium, cant contract forecefully
- ischemic heart disease casued by atherosclerosis which damages myocardium

Q

heart failure: long standing hypertension- systolic

A

systolic
- arterial pressure increaseg, making harder for left ventricle to pump blood out into hypertension systemic circulation
- hypertrophy occurs: muscle mass bulks up, greater demand for oxygen, so some muscles become weaker, weakened contraction

8
Q

heart failure: dilated cardiomyopathy

A

systolic
heart chanmber dilates so that more blood can fill, stretch out muscle walls and get stronger contraction whch helps for a while but then eventually muscles thin so much that left sided heart failure occurs

9
Q

heart failure: long standing hypertension: diastolic

A

diastolic
in hypertension, hypertrophy is concentric - moves into ventricular space so less room for filling causing heart failure

Q

heart failure: aortic stenosis

A

diastolic
- casues concentric hypertrophy, naroowing of the aortic valve opening

Q

heart failure: restrictive cardiomyopathy

A

diastolic
heart muscle gets stiffer and less comaoliant, cant stretch and fill

Q

medicartion for left sided heart failure

A

ace inhibitors - dilate blood vessels
diruetics- can help reduce fluid build up and therefrore blood pressure
