Auricles
Where a trabeculated muscles located?
Ventricles
What is the name for the remnant structure of a large fetal vessel?
Ligamentum Arteriosum
What is the name for the large fetal vessel, whilst still in development?
Ductus artieriosis
What did the ductus arteriosis do in development and why?
Carried blood from the pulmonary trunk to the aorta to allow oxygenated blood from the mother to quickly be pumped systemically
What is the name of the ‘flap’ in development?
Foramen Ovale
What is the name of the ‘flap’ after birth?
Fossa ovalis
What did the foramen ovale do in development?
Allow blood to flow from the right atrium to the left
What causes the foramen ovale to shut?
Increased blood pressure
What stopped so much blood from travelling to the lungs in development?
The high resistance as a result of being fluid filled

Left anterior vena cava
Middle posterior vena cava
What is the first branch off the aorta?
Coronary ostea
What are the opening of the coronary arteries called?
Coronary ostea
Describe the pathway of blood which enters the coronary ostea
Coronary ostea -> coronary arteries -> cardiac veins -> right atrium
