may repeat in 10 minutes
Calcium Chloride
Pediatric Dose
0.2 - 0.25 mL/kg of a 10% solution
Calcium Chloride
Special Consideration
-pretreatment to administration of diltiazem
-may cause bradydysrhythmias when patient uses digoxin
Sodium Bicarbonate
Class

Sodium Bicarbonate
Supply
prefilled syringe
Sodium Bicarbonate
Mechanism of Action
-buffers excess acid
-increases pH
Sodium Bicarbonate
Indications
-metabolic acidosis in these conditions
(salicyate overdose, tricylcic antidepressant overdose, hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, acidosis refractory to effective ventilation, prolonged cardiac arrest)
