Essential element for regulating the excitation threshold of nerves and muscles, normal cardiac contractility, and blood coagulation
Calcium Chloride Indications?
Hyperkalemia, hypocalcemia, hypermagnesemia, calcium channel blocker
Calcium Chloride Contraindications?
V-Fib during cardiac resuscitation, digitalis toxicity, hypercalcemia
Calcium Chloride Onset/Duration?
Onset : 5 - 15 mins
Duration : Dose dependent may last up to 4 hours
Calcium Chloride Dose/Route?
Adult : 1-2g (10-20ml) slow IV 10% solution
Peds : 60mg/kg slow IV 10% solution
Calcium Chloride Side Effects?
Bradycardia, hypotension, metallic taste in the mouth, local necrosis if given IM or IV infiltration
