Cyclical mood swings
Less intense but longer lasting form of bipolar disorder

What does Bipolar III follow?
Use of antidepressants for depression
What is bipolar IV?
Depression arising from hyperthymic treatment
How is bipolar disorder diagnosed?
Two or more episodes in which the patients mood and activity levels are significantly disturbed

How many episodes within bipolar disorder must occur per year to be classed as rapid cycling?
4+ episodes a year
What is classed as an episode of hypomania?
Mood elevated or irritable Sustained for at least 4 days 3+ of the following -Increased activity -Increased talkativeness -Distractability -Decreased need for sleep -Increased sexual energy -Reckless/irresponsible
