better anatomy three Flashcards
what is the peritoneum
it is a serous double membrane of simple squamous epithelium that lines the abdominal cavity
whats the parietal and visceral peritoneums
the parietal peritoneum lines the walls of the abdominal cavity. the visceral peritoneum lines the intraperitoneal organs
where do the greater and lesser omentums attach
the greater omentum attaches to the greater curvature of the stomach and runs down like an apron and back up to attach to the transverse colon
the lesser omentum attaches the lesser curvature of the stomach to the liver
what can the greater omentum do in infections
it can migrate and wrap around the infected site, kinda compartmentalizing the infected organ
wheres the supracolic and infracolic compartments
these are within the greater sac, and they lie above and below the transverse colon mesentery
where and what are the paracolic gutters
these are lateral connections of the supracolic and infracolic compartments. allow fluid drainage from up to down
these gutters are between the abdominal wall and the ascending and descending colon on either side
how do we get to the lesser sac from the greater sac
going through the omental foramen which is around and behind the lesser omentum
going around that way you go between the IVC and the hepatic triad
what mesentery attaches the small intestine to the wall
the mesentery attaches the most of the small intestine. the sigmoid mesentery is for the sigmoid colon
whats the name of the transverse colon mesentery
the transverse mesocolon
what attaches the liver to the anterior wall of the abdominal cavity
the falciform ligament
what are the two parts of the lesser omentum
the hepatogastric ligament and the hepatoduodenal
where are the rugae of the stoamch more prevalent
more rugae on the greater curvature as this part of the stomach expands more when eating.
more longitudinal rugae on the lesser curvature to allow fluid passage through the stomach
whats before the pyloric sphincter
the pyloric antrum
whhat are the 4 parts to the duodenum
duodenum is C-shaped structure at L2.
it has a superior, descending, inferior and ascending part
where do we find the major and minor duodenal papillae
in the descending duodenum. with the minor papilla being more superior in the descending part of the duodenum
whats one feature of the jejunum and the ileum
the jejunum starts at the duodenojejunal flexure. the ileum has lymphoid aggregates called payers patches
