anatomy 5 Flashcards
what divides the liver into its anatomical lobes
the falciform ligament
what structures can be found along the functional line os symmetry
the IVC and the gall bladder. these separate the liver into functional units
what are some of the areas we can find on the liver surface and what are they a result of
colic, renal and gastric - these are caused by indentations of the organs on the liver surface.
there’s the bare area - this is where the liver has absent peritoneum
whats the path of the peritoneum around the bare area of the liver
the anterior coronary ligament, to the right triangular ligament to the posterior coronary ligament, going around the IVC and porta heptis (portal triad), then to the left trianglular ligament then it moves anteriorly to the falciform ligament.
what are the two recesses we see about the liver and what’s their significance
Suhbprenic recess - between liver and diaphragm. Hepatorenal recess is between the kidney and the liver.
these recesses are where fluid can gather, or even infection can cause abscess in these spaces
describe the pathways to make the hepatic portal vein
Drains blood from the superior rectal vein, colic veins. These two join to make the inferior mesenteric vein.
Then theres also the splenic vein joins the inferior mesenteric vein at the superior mesenteric vein which then all become the portal vein.
describe the arrangement of the three vessels in the porta hepatis region
bile duct is to the right. the hepatic artery is to the left and the hepatic portal vein is in behind.
what are the boundaries of calots triangle
Boundaries of Calot’s Triangle:
Medial: Common hepatic duct.
Inferior: Cystic duct.
Superior: Inferior surface of the liver
describe the pathway of the extrahepatic biliary circulation
the bile canaliculi drain to the left and right hepatic ducts which then themselves merge to create the common hepatic duct, the common hepatic duct combines with the cystic duct to make the common bile duct. the cystic duct comes from the gall bladder.
what separates the liver into its 7 segments
the left right and middle hepatic veins. then the left and right hepatic arteries
taking a transverse slice through the liver what segments do we see superiorly and inferiorly
superiorly from medial to lateral 2,4,8,7
inferiorly from medial to lateral 3,4,5,6
what do we have at the hepatic ampulla to control secretions
the hepatic ampulla is where the bile duct and the pancreatic duct merge. in this space we have the sphincter of oddy controlling the secretions
what are the parts of the pancreas and where is the pancreas
there is the head, the body, the tail, and the neck, also the uncinate process. it is found behind the stomach retroperitoneal
whats the blood supply to the pancreas
Splenic artery and gastroduodenal are the arteries we actually need to know.
Splenic artery supplies most pancreas and also the spleen.
Pancreatoduodenal arteries do the head
