1
Q
Types of angina
A
Effort angina, unstable angina, Prinzmetal angina
2
Q
Nitrates: names
A
Nitroglycerine
isosorbid-mononitrate
3
Q
pFOX inhibitors (partial fatty acid oxidation inhibitors): names
A
trimetazidine
4
Q

A

5
Q
All drug classes used to treat:
A
First line: B-blockers
Second line:
- nitrates
- Ca++ chn blockers
- pFOX inhibitors
- Rate inhibitors
6
Q
Nitrates: action
A
Nitrates release nitric oxide in smooth muscle cells. NO activates guanylyl cyclase → cGMP ↑ →
dephosphorylation of myosin light chain ↓ → smooth muscle relaxes (identical mechanism to nitroprusside)
7
Q
pFOX inhibitors (partial fatty acid oxidation inhibitors): action
A
reduces fatty acid oxidation, but more importantly reduces sodium current in myocardial cells.
- decrease in intracellular Na → increased Ca2+ excretion via Na/Ca transporter → decreased contractility
- moderately effective in angina prophylaxis
8
Q
Rate inhibitor: action
A
Ivabradine: inhibits funny channels in SA node → hyperpolarization of pacemaker current → HR ↓ →
