what investigation do u do when u suspect sjorgens but antibody test negative

A

saliva gland ultrasound and biopsy

17
Q

treatment for sjogren’s syndrome

A

therapeutic spectrum
artificial tears, salivary supplements, vaginal lubricants
good dental hygiene
hydroxyxholoquine (anti-malarial for fatigue and arthralgia)
immunosuppression if major organ involvement

18
Q

what is antiphospholipid antibody syndrome

A

a mixed connective tissue disease with the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies on two occasions 12 weeks apart

19
Q

what are the two types of antiphospholipid syndrome

A

primary- no other underlying immune disease

secondary- seen in 20% of patients with lupus

20
Q

treatment for antiphospholipid syndrome

A

life long anticoagulation if thrombosis

21
Q

investigations for antiphospholipid syndrome

A
asses severity
urinalysis
CXR, pulmonary function, ECHO
manage cardiovascular risk
immunosuppression if major organ involvement
If not- symptomatic management
