Applying Extinction Flashcards
1
Q
6 Steps to Apply Extinction
A
- define problem behaviors
- conduct a functional assessment to identify reinforcement
- eliminate the reinforcement
- schedule of reinforcement for problwm behavior
- reinforce alternative behaviors (taking place of undesireable behavior)
- premote generalization and maintenance
2
Q
Contingent attention
VS
Non-Contingent attention
A
Contingent attention: occurs AFTER behavior
Non-Contingent attention: occurs ANYTIME
3
Q
CRF (Continuous Reinforcement) phase
A
Reinforcer delivered after target behavior
4
Q
EXT (Extinction) phase
A
Reinforcer no longer delivered
5
Q
Generalization
A
Target behavior occurs across different situations that differ from the training situation
- use extinction in all relevant circumstances/settings
6
Q
Maintenance
A
Bejavior change persists over time the b-mod program ends
- use extinction whenever the problem behavior occurs
7
Q
When to NOT apply extinction
A
- group settings/imitation
- extreme behaviors
