What is technique for apicetomy?
Raise flap to access apex
Bone removal
Resect root 90 degree
clear root canal by 3mm
place filler material
close flap
What are CI for apicectomy?
Primary disease not stabilised
Poor coronal seal
Obvious root fracture
Combined perio-endo lesion
Poor bone support
What are risks of apicectomy?
Pain, swelling, bleeding, infection
Gingival recession, fracture of tooth, damage to adjacent teeth and structures
What material is recommended for root-end filling?
ZoE cement
Resins
MTA
What is the success rate for resolution apical area following apicetomy?
76-92%
How often should pt w/ apicetomy be reviewed?
Initial review 5-7 days + remove suture
Follow up to 4-years clinically
Annual PAs
