Fatty change in liver in response to excess alcohol, leading to decompensated hepatic function

Raised bilirubin Raised AST/ALT and GGT Raised ALP in later disease Low albumin and long prothrombin time US, CT/MRI, biopsy= show fatty change --> fibrosis
What is the management of alcoholic hepatitis?
Supportive, high calorie intake
What is the management and prognosis of severe alcoholic hepatitis?
Steroids
Poor prognosis
Who is autoimmune hepatitis seen in?
Young women
What are the clinical features of autoimmune hepatitis?
Asymptomatic
jaundice, fatigue, fever, itch, muscle aches

LFTs

Antibodies- ANA, anti SMA

What is the management of autoimmune hepatitis?
Steroids
