Symptoms:

A

trembling (first) and then following by insomnia, anxiety, nausea, unstable bp, irregular breathing, depression and emesis. Within 48 hours, delusions and hallucinations begin. Hallucinations most often appear as ants or spiders on the skin. This indicated the nervous system is hyper excitable. Hallucinations last from days to weeks. Symptoms usually subside in five to seven days but can last up to several weeks.

A

first line Benzo’s. Important to remember due to the high dose needed to manage withdrawal symptoms the cognition is affected and can result in anterograde amnesia
