Contraindications

A
  • Angioedema
  • Sensitivity to albuterol or levalbuterol
  • Use with caution in lactating patients, cordiovascular disorders, & cardiac arrhythmias

Adverse Effects

A
  • Hyperglycemia
  • Hypokalemia
  • Palpitations, Sinus Tachycardia, anxiety, tremors
  • Nausea, vomiting, throat irritation, dry mouth
  • Hypertension, headache, paradoxical bronchospasm

Administration

A
  • Adult: 2.5 mg (0.5 mL of .5% solution diluted in 2.5 mL NS) delivered over 5-15 minutes - inhaled only.
  • Pediatrics >12: 0.15 mg/kg every 20 minutes
