Airspace Management Flashcards
What is Airspace Management (ASM)
A planning function.
What is the primary objective of ASM?
Maximising the utilisations if available Airspace
How does ASM maximise airspace?
Sharing segregation of airspace
It’s dynamic
What is flexible use of airspace? (FUA)
The principle that airspace should not be designated as either pure military or civilian
What are the 3 levels of ASM?
1) Strategic (national and international)
2) Pre-tactical (short timescales)
3) Tactical (at the time)
What is the purpose of the 3 ASM levels?
Purpose of achieving the most efficient use of airspace based on actual needs , avoiding permanent airspace segregation.
What is the Airspace Management Cell (AMC)?
Joint civil/military cell responsible for the day to day management and temporary allocation of national or sub-regional airspace under the jurisdiction of one or mate ECAC state.
What is the AMC manageable area?
An area subject to management and allocation by AMC at ASM level 2 either
1) formal structures entitled “TRAs or TSAs or
2) Restricted and Danger Areas that are manageable at ASM level 2 in the same way as TRA/TSAs
What is a Danger area?
An airspace of defined dimensions within which activities dangerous to the flight of aircraft may exist at specified times.
Some danger areas in the context of FUA concept, are subject to
Management and the allocation at ASM level 2 are established as ASM Level 1 as “AMC-Manageable” Areas. And identified as such in AIP
What is the Temporary Airspace Allocation Process?
Allocated airspace of defined dimensions for Temporary reservation/segregation (TRA/TSA) or restriction (D/R) and,
Identified more generally as an “AMC- Manageable” Area
Define Temporary Reserved Area (TRA)
A defined volume of airspace normally under the jurisdictions dine aviation authority and temporarily reserved, by common agreement, for the specific use by another aviation authority and through which other traffic may be allowed to transit, under ATC Clearance.
What ASM level are TRA?
ASM level 2
Define Temporary Segregated Areas (TSA)
A defined volume of airspace normally under the jurisdiction of one aviation authority and temporary Segregated, by common agreement, for the exclusive use by another aviation authority and through which other traffic will not be allowed to transit.
In FUA, all TSAs airspace reservation subject to?
The management and allocation at ASM level 2
