Aerodrome Control 04 Flashcards
Define AD control tower
A unit established to provide air traffic control service to AD traffic
Define AD traffic
All traffic on the manoeuvring area of an AD and all a/c flying in the vicinity of an AD.
*vicinity= in/ entering or leaving an AD traffic circuit
Define Air Traffic
All aircraft in flight or operating on the manoeuvring area of an AD.
Define Landing area
Part of the movement area intended for landing/takeoff of aircraft
AD control towers shall issue information and clearances to a/c under their control to achieve?
A safe orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic.
AD control towers have the objective of preventing collisions between:
(5 things)
1) A/C flying within the designated area of responsibility of the control tower.
2) A/C operating on the manoeuvring area
3) A/C landing and taking off
4) A/C and vehicles operating on the manoeuvring area
5) A/C on the manoeuvring area and obstruction on that area
AD controllers shall maintain a continuous watch on all flight operations on and in the vicinity of an aerodrome as well as vehicles and personnel on the manoeuvring. By visual observation, aided in low visibility conditions by ATS Surveillance system when available. True or False.
True
If there are other ADs within a CTR, Traffic at all Aerodromes within such a zone shall be coordinated so that traffic circuits do not conflict. True or False?
True.
The functions of an aerodrome Control Tower May be performed by different control/working positions such as:
(3 positions)
1) AD controller: operations on runway and A/C within area of responsibility
2) Ground controller: traffic on manoeuvring area, not runways
3) Clearance Delivery: delivery of startup and ATC Clearances yo departing IFR Flights
Essential local traffic information shall be issued in a _____\____ either directly or through the unit providing ______\______ when in judgement of the AD controller, such information is necessary in the interest of ______ or when requested by the pilot.
Timely manner
Approach control
Safety
Essential local traffic shall consist of:
2 things
1) aircraft/vehicle/person on or near manoeuvring area, or
2) traffic operating in the vicinity of the aerodrome which may constitute as a hazard to. a/c concerned.
Prior to taxiing to take off a/c shall be advised of the following information in the order listed,
(6 things)
1) Runway in use
2) Surface Wind
3) QNH or QFE
4) Air temperature for the runway
5) Visibility
6) correct time
Prior to take off a/c shall be advised of:
2 things
1) Any significant changes in surface wind/ air temperature/ Vis or RVR
2) Significant Met Conditions in the takeoff or climb out
Prior to entering the traffic circuit/ commencing approach to land a/c shall be provided with the following elements of information:
(3 things)
1) Runway in use
2) Surface Wind
3) QNH/QFE
