How is ADHD managed?
A
- Specialist assessment required.
- There is NO basis for avoiding artificial sweeteners, fatty acid or sugar unless a food diary shows a link.
- Methylphenidate (Ritalin)
- Atomoxetin

What are some side effects of methylphenidate (Ritalin)?
A
- Abdo pain
- Nausea
- Dyspepsia.
- Growth - not usually affected but advised to monitor.

What sort of monitoring should be done for a child on methylphenidate (Ritalin)?
A
- Monitor growth every 6 months.
- Monitor for psychiatric disorders.
- Check blood pressure and pulses every 6 months.
