Adaptions Flashcards
How are small intestines adapted
Contains villi which are found in the small intestive digestive systwn, help absorb nutrients.
It is fokded, increasinf the surface area of the intestines to allow digested food to efficiently be absorbed into the bloodstream and delivered ti cekls around the body
How are lings adapted
They habe aveoli, timy sacks in the lings where gas is echanged during brearhing
Large surface area for diffusion of particles into the bloodstream
Gills in fish
Gills have a larhe surface area particles to diffuse into
Very efficient for exchange in water
Have flimints and capillaries which are 1 cell thick tht increase the surface area
Roots in plants
Absorb water through the soil through osmosis, have a large sirface area, lots of roots
Leave
Flat and wide surface area, rate ofdiffusion will be faster die to more space
How does the respirtory stsen worm
The respiratory system brings oxygen into the body when you inhale, through the lungs it may be transfed to the blood, or heart, or cellular respiration, and removes carbon dioxide when you exhale through the aveoli
