Heart Components Flashcards
Vena cava
The vena cava is a large vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the body back to the heart.
Pulmonary artery
The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs for oxygenation.
Pulmonary vain
The pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood from the lungs back to the left side of the heart for circulation to the rest of the body.
Ventricles
The right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs via the pulmonary artery for oxygenation.
The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body through the aorta.
Aorta
The aorta is the largest artery in the body that carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle of the heart to the rest of the body.
Atriums
The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body and pumps it into the right ventricle for lung circulation.
The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it into the left ventricle for systemic circulation.
