When asch used variation in terms of task difficulty he found that when the task was made easier the levels of conformity decreased

This was done by decreasing ir increasing the line difference

However. Lucas et al Found that despite task difficulty those with high self efficacy conformed less still.

So individual differences and situational differences determine leveks of conformity too

Asch found that a majority of 3 lead to the optimal conformity increased it by 30%

Indicated that majority size is an important factor in determing level of conformity but only to a certain extent. More than 3 and there’s no change

Asch found that when a Pps was given support for the right answer by another true Pps or a a confederate conformity levels drop from 32 to 5%

When told to give an answer that was neither right nor from the majority conformity still dropped to 9%

Concluded that it was breaking the groups concensus that was the major factor in reducing conformity
