Q

Talk a bout a01

A

Asch found that the introduction is another dissident caused conformity rates to plummet

This is because the Pps felt more confident with their judgement and more confident with rejecting the majority position because there’s an increased support due to the dissident.

Q

What did Allen and levine do and find

A

3 conditions

A support with bad vision

A supporter with good vision

And control

Found that the participant who had a valid answer e.g. good vision reduced conformity far more than the invalid dissident

So a dissident does help but only if viewed as valid

Q

A02 on residing pressures to conform

A

Most if the research on conformity involved using judgements about physical reality (e..G line lengths)

Problem is these come with no major consequences so the Pps wouldn’t really mind abandoning personal positions

But when morality was involved such as cheating, conformity was far lower even if it involved public rather than just rou vat behaviours

This is because the consequences are far more serious and could affect a persons integrity
