Twenge et al suggested a historical trend in the locus of control
Metanalysis found that young americans are increasing having external locus of control
Suggested this is bad because it’s correlated with bad academic performance and depression
Also suggested that increase in certain social factors in the west such as divorce and increased crime and mental health issues has seen a corresponding increase in externality as young people see many aspects of their lives as beyond their control.
