Passive is basically when the subject doesn’t voluntarily does an action
Verb stem - 아/어/여 + 지다
해가 서쪽 하늘에서 천천히 지고 있었다. “The sun was slowly setting in the western sky.”
시간이 흐르면서 그녀의 머리카락이 점점 더 많이 지기 시작했다. “As time passed, her hair began to fall out more and more.” Passive since the action (hair falling out) is happening to the subject (her hair) without any active effort or action on the part of the subject.
병으로 인해 그의 힘이 점점 지고 있었다. “Due to the illness, his strength was gradually fading.” Passive since the sun, as the subject, is not actively performing an action but rather undergoing a natural process.
그 가수의 인기가 최근에 많이 졌다.
“The singer has lost a lot of popularity recently.” Passive since it focuses on a change happening to the subject (the singer) rather than an action actively performed by the subject.
오랜 시간이 지나면서, 그녀는 어린 시절의 기억이 많이 졌다고 느꼈다. “Over time, she felt that she had lost many of her childhood memories.” Passive b/c it describes a condition or state happening to the subject (“she”) rather than an action that the subject is actively performing.
