Why is there conflict in the Ukraine?
In 1991, the Soviet Union broke up
When Ukraine was created, there were divisions between the east and west of the country
In 2014, the president was driven out of office
Russian backed forces responded by taking control of Crimea
The territory voted to join Russia but this hasn’t been supported by people in the west
