6.7 Control Schedule Flashcards
What is control schedule process?
It is the process of monitoring the status of project activities to update project progress and to manage changes to the schedule baseline to achieve the plan
How are any changes to the schedule baseline managed?
Changes to the project baseline can only be approved through the Perform Integrated Change Control process
What is Control Schedule process concerned with as a component of the Perform Integrated Change Control process?
/determining the current status of the project schedule
/influencing the factors that create schedule changes
/determining if the project schedule has changed
/managing the actual changes as they occur
What is Control Schedule concerned with when agile approach is utilised?
/determining the current status of the project schedule by comparing the total amount of work delivered and accepted against the estimated work completed for the elapsed time cycle
/conducting retrospective reviews for correcting processes and improving, if required
/Re-prioritising the remaining work plan (backlog)
/determining the velocity per iteration
/determining that the project schedule has changed
/managing the actual changes as they occur
What are the inputs to Control Schedule process?
/Project management plan: as it contains the schedule baseline and schedule management plan that describes how the schedule will be managed and controlled
/Project schedule - up to date. activities completed, started and updates having notations
/Work performance data - % completion, start, finish
/Project Calendars
/Schedule data
/Org process asset
What are the control schedule - tools and techniques?
/performance rviews /project management software /resource optimisation techniques /modeling techniques /leads and lags /schedule compression /scheduling tool
What are the techniques used for Performance Reviews?
/Trend Analysis
/Critical Path Method
/critical chain method
/earned value management
What is trend analysis?
Examines project performance over time to determine if performance is improving or deteriorating. Graphical analtysis techniqus are used to analyse performance to date and for comparison to future performance goals in the form of completion dates
Relevance of CPM in Control Schedule process
Variance on the critical path will have a direct impact on the project.
Relevance of CCM in Control Schedule process
Comparing the amount of buffer remaining to the amount of buffer needed to protect the delivery date. Difference between buffer needed and buffer remaining can determine whether corrective action is appropriate
What are important aspects of schedule control under earned value management?
/determine cause and degree of variance relative to the schedule baseline
/estimating the implications of those variances for future work to completion
/deciding whether corrective or preventive action is required
What are Control Schedule outputs?
/Work Performance Info: The calculated SV and SPI time performance indicators for WBS components, in particular, the work packages and control accounts are documented and communicated to stakeholders
/Schedule Forecasts
/Change Requests
/Project Management Plan Updates: Schedule and Cost updates, Schedule Management plan updates
/Project Document Updates: Schedule Data, Project Schedule and Risk Register
/Organisational proecess assets updates
