Q

there are prokaryotic and eukarotic cells. what is different between them? name four points

A
  1. only eukaryotic cells have a nucleus
  2. prokaryotic cells are unicelluar
  3. only eukaryote cells are membrane bound
  4. eukaryotes contain organelles (think the endoplamic reticulum, golgi aparatus, microtubules)

Q

define what a nucloid is and is it in an eukaryote or prokaryote cell?

A

nucleoid is not an enclosed membrane, therefore it is in a prokaryote cell

Q

what is an organelle and are they in prokaryotes or eukaryotes?

A

organelles are internal membrane systems that divide the cell into compartments (think of a house with many rooms with different funcitons). Its in a eukaryote cell

Q

what are the similarites in mitochondria and chlorplasts in eukaryotes? name two

hint something to do with DNA

A
  1. they both have DNA found in the nucleus
  2. both of their organelles use their DNA to make proteins and enzymes for function

Q

what are the differences between mitochondria and chloroplasts in eukaryotic cells? name two

hint: its the way they source their energy

A
  1. mitochondria reate ATP from GLUCOSE from CELLUAR RESPIRATION
  2. chrloplasts produce ATP from LIGHT!!!! (PHOTOSYNTHESIS)
