What is learned helplessness?
Belief that failure is inevitable
What are the 2 types of learned helplessness?
Specific learned helplessness (in a particular situation) ‘’im a hopeless football plater’’
Global learned helplessness (in a group of situations) ‘’im hopeless in all sports’
What is mastery orientation?
View that an individual will be motivate by becoming an expert in skill development or sports performance
What will an athlete who is mastery orientated often do?
Attribute failure to internal, controllable, unstable factors like effort
What is attribution retraining?
Seeking often to change learned helplessness into mastery orientation
