4.3 Uniform Electric Field Flashcards
How are electric field lines set out in a uniform field.
Perpendicular to charged objects, yet parallel to each other. Equally spaced out.
What does it mean if lines are constantly equally spaced out in an electric field?
The electric field strength doesn’t change.
How can the size of the uniform electric field be calculated?
Using equation E = V/d
where v = voltage(work done per charge between plates) and d = distance(plate seperation)
How to demonstrate that the electric field strength in a uniform field stays constant?
Place a charged object in between 2 charged plates and measure voltage as it gets closer to the plate it is attracted to. Plot distance against voltage to find that there is a direct proportion , keeping gradient (E) constant.
Except NC^-1 what is another unit of electric field strength?
Vm^-1
