Basic Capability
Aircraft expected to fly VFR and IFR, during the day and night, to include NVG capability.
SAR: Minimum Rescue Equipment Capabilties
1) Electronically detect and locate a 406 MHz distress beacon
2) Communicate on internation distress frequencies
3) Mark datum and determine drift
4) Visually mark the position of a search object
5) Deliver a raft for 5 or more survivors
6) Deliver rafts for 15 or more survivors
7) Deliver a dewatering pump to disabled vessel
8) Communicate w/ Survivors
9) Deliver small misc. items to survivors
Enforcement of Laws and Treaties MEL/Capabilities
1) Maintain encrypted communication with command and control operational assets
2) Record images of targets of interest
3) Detect a surface target while maintaining a covert distance/altitude
4) Accurately determine the position of a surface target while maintaining a covert distance/altitude
5) Classify a surface target while maintaining a covert distance/altitude
6) Communicate on civil maritime frequencies
International Ice Patrol MEL/Capabilities
1)Detect a small iceberg in zero visibility
2) Accurate determine the position of a small iceberg in zero visibility
3) Differentiate between an iceberg and a vessel in zero visibility
Personal Flotation Device
All aircraft shall carry one PFD for each person aboard. Aircrew survival vests may only be worn by personnel trained in their use.
(ensure enough PFDs are aboard aircraft whenever transporting pax)
Oxygen
1) 10,000ft: Oxygen required for cabin altitude above 10,000’
2) FL180: Oxygen masks shall be readily available for use by all aircrew
3) FL250: Oxygen source within reach of all personnel
4) FL350: One pilot at controls shall be wearing and using oxygen mask unless two pilots at controls have quick donning mask with instant ICS. (If second pilot leave, remaining pilot must put on oxygen)
Oxymetazoline Spray (e.g. Afrin)
Mishap message required if it is used from the first aid kit.
