3710 Ch 1: Overview of CG Air Operations Flashcards
Mission of CG Aircraft (Chapter 1)
Operational response is primary mission of CG Aircraft. Aircraft capabilities are founded primarily on Search and Rescue (SAR), Enforcement of laws and Treaties (ELT), and Marine Environmental Protection (MEP) and Cargo and Personnel Transportation
Clearance (Chapter 1)
PIC receives clearance for flight from CO through signing of flight sked. PIC or CO may delay flight if conditions are not safe.
Operational Control (OPCON) (Chapter 1)
Authority to organize and employ aviation forces, assigned tasks, designate objectives, and give authoritative direction necessary to accomplish mission.
C-130 is under OPCON of Area Commander.
Tactical Control (TACON) (Chapter 1)
Limited to detailed direction and control of resources in op area necessary to accomplish assigned missions
OPCON delegates TACON authority without releasing OPCON.
TACON shift at first landing
Administrative Control (ADCON) (Chapter 1)
Responsibility to administratively support operational perosnnel.
Warranted Risk for National Defense (Chapter 1)

Warranted Risk for Search and Rescue: Saving Human Life (Chapter 1)
Risk of damage to or abuse of the aircraft is acceptable, even though such damage or abuse may render aircraft unrecoverable. Probable loss of the aircrew is not acceptable risk.
Warranted Risk for Search and Rescue: Preventing or Relieving Pain or Suffering (Chapter 1)
Risk of damage to or abuse of the aircraft if recovering the aircraft can be reasonably expected.
Warranted Risk for Search and Rescue: Saving Property (Chapter 1)
Risk of damage to the aircraft if the value of the property to be saved is unquestionably greater than the cost of aircraft damage and the aircraft is fully expected to be recoverable.
Warranted Risk for Missions Involving Law Enforcement and Evidence Recovery (Chapter 1)
Possibility of recovering evidence and interdicting or apprehending violators does not warrant probable damage to or abuse of the aircraft.
Warranted Risk for Logistics and Other Missions (Chapter 1)
Logisitcs or other missions having little or no urgency shall not be prosecuted if they expose the aircraft to hazards greater than those encountered during routine training missions.
