What is the classification for ankle fractures?
A
Webber classification:
Type A: Fracture of the medial maleolus
Type B: Fracture of the fibula at the level of the syndesmosis
Type C: Fracture of the fibula proximal to the syndesmosis

What is the treatment of type A Webber fracture?
A
Usually stable
Closed reduction and casting UNLESS accompanied by a medial malleolus fracture
K-wires

What is the treatment of type B Webber fracture?
A
May be stable or unstable, depending on ligamentous injury Conservative or surgery
Plate and screws

What is the treatment of type C Webber fracture?
A
These fractures are unstable and require ORIF.
