3.1 Divisions Of Neurons Flashcards
What the entire nervous system?
Good
What’s CNS for?
Brain and spinal cord
What’s PNS for?
Somatic nervous system and autonomic nervous system
What’s SNS?
Somatic nervous system and is you bodily movements (controlled)
What ANS?
Autonomic nervous system and is involuntary movement such as breathing
Where does sympathetic and parasympathetic do?
Sympathetic would increase heart rate, breathing whilst parasympathetic decreases the speed of heart rate and breathing. Sympathetic slows secretions and parasympathetic increases secretions
What are sensory and motor neurons and how do they operate/ work?
Sensory feeds impulses from organs to central nervous system. Motor neurons take Impulses from central nervous system and relay them into movement/ control of muscle and glands (to somatic nervous system)
What are all the neural pathways?
Converging, diverging and reverberating
What’s a diverting neural pathway?
When neurons splits into several neural pathways and this can be seen for example in fingers
What’s a reverberating neural pathway?
When neuron impulses can be sent back through pathway (like a loop) and is used in sleep
What’s a converging neural pathway?
When several neural pathways meet together, they increase the sensitivity of the excitatory and inhibitory signals
What’s the somatic nervous system for?
Movement such as muscles
What controls the Skeletal muscle and what controls the smooth muscle?
Somatic nervous system controls the skeletal muscles and autonomic nervous system controls smooth muscle
