How to use a triple beam balance
A
- Place the object on the pan.
- Move over the 100g slider till the pointer moves down then go back one.
- Move the 10g slider over till the pointer moves down then go back one.
- Move the 1g slider over till the needle is balanced.
- Add all of the slider values for the mass.

- Amount of space something takes up
- Instruments: Graduated Cylinder, Ruler
- Units: Graduated Cylinder (mL), Ruler (cm3)

Using the Displacement Method
A
- Step 1 – Measure the volume of water in a graduated cylinder. (Initial Volume)
- Step 2 – Gently place the object in the graduated cylinder.
- Step 3 – Measure the new volume of the water.
- Step 4 – Subtract the difference between your initial volume and your new volume.
- Volume of Object = New Volume – Initial Volume
