How to use a triple beam balance

A
  • Place the object on the pan.
  • Move over the 100g slider till the pointer moves down then go back one.
  • Move the 10g slider over till the pointer moves down then go back one.
  • Move the 1g slider over till the needle is balanced.
  • Add all of the slider values for the mass.

Using the Displacement Method

A
  • Step 1 – Measure the volume of water in a graduated cylinder. (Initial Volume)
  • Step 2 – Gently place the object in the graduated cylinder.
  • Step 3 – Measure the new volume of the water.
  • Step 4 – Subtract the difference between your initial volume and your new volume.
  • Volume of Object = New Volume – Initial Volume
