Q

How do substances pass through a cell membrane?

A
  • Small molecules flow through the gaps between the lipids.
    (Ex. Oxygen, Water, Carbon Dioxide)
-The protein channels allow larger molecules to pass through.
    (Ex. Glucose, Starch)

Q

Passive Transport

A

Also known as Diffusion and does not require energy.

  • Molecules flow from a High concentration → Low concentration until the concentrations are balanced.
  • If the process involves water it’s called osmosis.
