A

  • success of appraisals depends on acting upon staff problems which are highlighted- if problems are not followed up, and feedback is provided, demotivating can occur
  • appraisals must be based on clear criteria (set, agreed and understood targets) and managers must be trained to solve problems that can arise as a result of any poor preformace indicated in appraisals
