1.12 Research Methods - Presentation Of Data, Distribution Graphs Flashcards
The four types of graphical display are
Bar Charts, Histogram, Line Graph, and Scatter Graph
What is a bar chart best for representing?
Data that is divided into catego
What is a histogram best for representing?
Frequency distribution
What is a line graph best for representing?
Continuous Data
What is a scatter graph best for representing?
The relationship between co-variables and for correlations
Normal Distribution
Symmetrical spread of frequency data forming a bell shaped pattern, the mean median and mode are all at the peak, and most people’s scores are in the middle
Positive Skew
Majority of scores located on the left of the graph so the mode is on the left. In this case people’s scores are not equally distributed possibly due to a very hard test for example
Negative Skew
Bulk of the results are on the right of the graph so the mode is on the right and most people’s scores were on the right hand of the scale, possibly due to a very easy test for example
