What is a healthy diet?
It has the right balance of the 5 food types
What are the 4 food types, give example of each
Carbohydrates - bread rice, potatoes, pasta
Fats and Sugar - cake, sweets
Protein - Animal protein eg eggs, milk, meat and vegetable protein like beans
Fruit and vegetables -
What does the body use carbohydrates, fat and sugar for?
to release energy and to build cells
What is found in fruit and vegetable which the body needs to stay healthy
Vitamins and mineral ions
What What does the term malnourished mean?
The condition of the body where it does not get a balances diet, there may be enough food but not of the right type.
What happens if the body takes in too much carbohydrates, fat or sugar?
The person becomes overweight.
What happens if the body does not take in enough minerals or vitamins?
It develops deficiency diseases.
What is the metabolic rate? What happens if it increases?
the rate at which chemical reaction in the body take place, particularly cellular respiration. If it increases chemical reaction in cells work faster
What two factors can effect your metabolic rate?
Exercise will increase metabolic rate, inherited factors can also effect it
