Q

Describe anaerobic respiration in muscles.

A

When oxygen isn’t available, energy can be created by the process of anaerobic respiration. It occurs in animal muscle, for short periods of time if aerobic respiration isn’t meeting energy demands it leads to muscle pain.

Q

What happens when respiration occurs in yeast cells?

A

When anaerobic respiration occurs in yeast cells the cells produce ethanol and carbon dioxide. This is why yeast can be used in bread or dough to make it rise.
