Winter Ops Flashcards

1
Q

On a contaminated runway what would your thoughts be with regards to thrust and flap setting?

A

Must take TOGA

Consider using Flaps 2/3 to get off the ground earlier

Q

On a holdover time table, each column has two times associated to it; which one should you use?

A

It depends on the intensity of the precipitation.

For light intensity use the bigger number, moderate use the smaller number.

Q

When using the RCAM table to work out braking performance and crosswind limit, which piece of information taken from weather reports/snowtams should be used as the primary source to go into the table with:
A) Contaminent type and depth
B) Estimated Surface Friction (ESF)
C) Pilot Reports of Braking Action (PiRep of BA)

A

A)

The other two can be used just as secondary info

Q

What is th aquaplaning formula?

A

9X(tyre pressure/specific gravity of contaminant)^2

I think SG of water is 1, tyre pressure is usually 210 (320neo).
=130kts we will aquaplane
