Low Vis Flashcards
During an autoland what would you expect to hear and see if you lost an autopilot at 110ft? What about at 90ft?
What about both autopilots at 90ft?
At 110feet would hear a triple click
At 90feet nothing, fail operational so autoland should continue.
Both AP at 90feet, would hear a cavalary charge and red autoland light. Need to manually go around.
If you hear a noise with the autoland land - pull back!
Cat 3b autoland , NO DH. What would you go around for: Below 1000 Below 200 Below 100
Below 1000 Alpha floor AP off (cavalry charge) Downgrade - Triple click Amber caution Engine failure
Below 200
As above and autoland light
Below 100
Autoland light only
In the event of a master caution or downgrade above 1000 what needs to be completed in order to continue?
If not complete in time?
ECAM/QRH procedure - complete Req Equipment qrh Landing capability - check Rvr - check DH - adjust
If not go around.
What does fail operational mean?
In the event of a failire below alert height the landing can be continued automatically. The system is now fail passive.
What does fail passive mean?
In the event of a failure there is no significant out of trim condition or deviation of flight path but the landing is not completed automatically.
The pilot assumes control.
You are doing a CAT 2 autoland, the RVR’s are 300,250,250. Can you continue?
Yes. Required RVR 300/125/75
Or midpoint 75 with rollout
You are doing a CAT 2 autoland, the RVR’s are 300,100,50. Can you make an approach past the approach ban?
If the final part of the runway is not relevant, such as in Amsterdam, then yes as only the TDZ and Midpoint rvr would be applicable.
Landing perf probably worth doing.
You will also need rollout capability to have midpoint rvr of 75m required.
Below what height does the autoland light go off?
200ft
What causes the autoland land to go off? (7)
Loss of both AP’s Loss of LOC >15ft Loss of GS >100ft Deviation from GS / LOC Rad alt discrepancy >15ft FMGS detcts long flare FMGS detcts early / untimely flare
