FCTM Flashcards
What are the airbus golden rules?
Fly navigate communicate
Use the appropriate level of automation at all all times.
Understand the fma’s at all times.
Take action if things do not go expected.
What is ground speed mini in simple terms?
Groundspeed mini target= Vapp + difference in wind between Perf (Atis wind) and ND(ADIRS wind)
This helps to keep a positive energy state on the approach and subsequently a constant ground speed.
On a conventional aircraft when a gust of wind comes, speed trend goes up and thrust reduces. Once that wind then falls off thrust needs to quickly increase or the aircraft will be in a low energy state and stall.
With gs mini, once a gust comes thrust increases along with the speed target, so that when the gust falls off we have a postive energy state and can simply reduce thrust to regain the approach speed.
What does LAND ASAP AMBER mean?
Consider landing at the nearest suitbale airport.
What does LAND ASAP RED mean?
Land at the nearest airport at which a safe landing can be made as soon as possible.
Applicable to a time critical situation.
I.e.nearest piece of tarmac.
What would your actions be if you had an engine failure in the cruise?
Standard strategy
- Both thrust levers to MCT
- Disconnect the ATHR
- Pull HDG
- Check Engine out recovery alt on prog page
- Set that altitude and pull for open descent
- Set speed and pull
- Tell ATC (may day consider)
Engine failure in the cruise, what speed would you set for standard strategy?
300kts / 0.78M
Engine failure in the cruise, what speed would you set for obstacle strategy?
Green dot
Engine failure in the cruise, what would you do if your descent reduced to less than 500 ft/min?
Athr On
Set V/S -500ft/min
Monitor speed carefully
When landing on a contaminated runway should we use REV MAX?
Yes, but care must be taken particularly with a cross wind for lateral control.
