Wilcoxon test Flashcards
When is the wilcoxon test used?
When a difference is predicted to occur between two sets of data, the data is normally distributed, the data is of at least ordinal level and a related measure has been used
What do you use for N in the wilcoxon test?
Only include numbers of scores which are difference from each other
When are the results significant in wilcoxon test?
If the T value is less than or equal to the critical value
What do you do once you have the given T value in wilcoxon test?
Look at the critical values table and look at the value at N (results with different scores) at P=0.05 depending on whether it is a one tailed or two tailed hypothesis
What conclusions can you draw if the calculated value at T is smaller than the critical value in wilcoxon test?
The results are statistically significant
Reject the null hypothesis
Accept the alternative hypothesis
What conclusions can you draw if the calculated value at T is greater than the critical value in wilcoxon test?
The results are not statistically significant
Accept the null hypothesis
Reject the alternative hypothesis
